Originally from Democratic Republic of the Congo, Roger Halerimana and his family moved to Uganda in 2004, immigrated to Canada in 2011, and today are Canadian citizens. Roger has been grateful beyond measure for the many academic opportunities Canada offers students. For over ten years, Roger has called Canada home and he is most proud of his decision to enroll at Mohawk College.
“Mohawk has provided a great social atmosphere, that made me feel at home. Being an introverted person, such an environment at Mohawk’s Stoney Creek Campus has allowed me to learn and to live in a social environment which is an invaluable skill to possess.”
This past semester Roger received the Orlick Industries Limited Bursary which helped support his academic journey.
“Orlick’s [bursary] helped lighten the heavy burden of tuition that was weighing me down. Thanks to them I was able to focus on my learning. They succeeded in positively changing my outlook on life and made me more determined to help others. I hope I can assist others in achieving their goals, whether academic, social or financial.”
“I feel blessed every single day in this amazing country and I am proud of the opportunities that Mohawk College has offered me as one of its students.” –Roger Halerimana (Class of 2022)
Grant Panchyson, General Manager of Orlick Industries Limited says the company is more than happy to be supporting Mohawk College students.“As a local employer we are investing in our future workforce by providing the support students need to be successful. That’s what community is all about.”
Roger Halerimana will graduate this fall from Manufacturing Engineering Technician – Automation (Industrial Mechanic Millwright) program with hopes of becoming a successful millwright as he enters his career.
